Work on biology
that scales.

We are scientists and engineers at Guwahati Biotech Park, turning agricultural residue into industrial enzymes and microbial bioformulations. Join us full-time, on a research project, or as an intern.

Here the work moves from an agar plate to a five-kilolitre fermenter under one roof — and the people who join us move with it.

Three ways to
work with us.

Full-time positions

3 open roles
Permanent roles on the core team Own a part of the plant or the pipeline — and grow with it.

Full-time positions are permanent roles on the core Zymolent team. You take responsibility for a defined part of how our enzymes and bioformulations are made — a fermentation line, a strain programme, the quality laboratory — and carry it forward as we scale from the 5 KL pilot line towards commercial fermentation.

These roles suit people who want long-term ownership: writing the procedures others will follow, training the colleagues who join after them, and seeing their work leave the building as product.

Fermentation Engineer

Run the fermentation line that produces our enzymes, and help design the commercial trains that follow it. Operations Guwahati Full-time

Every Zymolent enzyme begins as a fermentation batch. As Fermentation Engineer you operate and improve the line that grows our production strains — from seed culture to the 5 KL pilot fermenter — and you generate the process data on which our 50–100 KL commercial trains will be designed.

What you will do

  • Plan, run and monitor submerged fermentation batches, from shake flask and seed fermenter through to the 5 KL pilot vessel.
  • Prepare and sterilise media based on agricultural residues such as rice straw and bamboo pulp, and manage inoculation, feeding and in-process control of pH, dissolved oxygen, temperature and foam.
  • Record batch data, investigate deviations and contamination events, and turn what you learn into standard operating procedures.
  • Work with R&D to bring new strains and processes from the bench to pilot scale, and with downstream colleagues on harvest, filtration and concentration.
  • Contribute mass-transfer, mixing and utility calculations to the design of commercial-scale fermentation.
  • Keep vessels, utilities and instruments in dependable working order — cleaning and sterilisation in place, calibration and preventive maintenance.

What you bring

  • A degree in biochemical engineering, chemical engineering, biotechnology or a closely related discipline.
  • Hands-on experience of operating stirred-tank fermenters at laboratory or pilot scale.
  • A sound grasp of aseptic technique, microbial growth kinetics and oxygen transfer.
  • Disciplined record-keeping and a methodical approach to troubleshooting.
  • Willingness to work to the batch schedule, including rotational hours while a campaign is running.

Good to have

  • Experience of filamentous fungal fermentation or fed-batch enzyme production.
  • Familiarity with PLC- or SCADA-controlled bioreactors.
  • Exposure to downstream processing — filtration, ultrafiltration or formulation.

Genetic Engineer

Engineer the microbial strains behind our enzyme portfolio — higher titres, better cocktails, new production hosts. R&D Guwahati Full-time Project

Our products start with organisms: indigenous fungal, bacterial and yeast isolates drawn from the ecosystems of Northeast India. As Genetic Engineer you turn promising isolates into dependable production strains — raising enzyme yield, tuning the composition of the enzyme cocktail and building the molecular tools the rest of the R&D team relies on.

This requisition is open both as a permanent role and as a fixed-term project position. Tell us in your note which of the two you are applying for.

What you will do

  • Design and build expression constructs, and carry out transformations and genome edits in filamentous fungi, yeast and bacteria.
  • Improve production strains for cellulases, amylases, pectinases and related enzymes through promoter, secretion-pathway and gene-dosage engineering.
  • Screen and characterise engineered strains — enzyme activity, growth behaviour and genetic stability across generations.
  • Analyse genome and sequencing data from our isolate library to identify candidate enzyme genes.
  • Maintain the engineered-strain collection and its documentation in line with institutional biosafety requirements.
  • Hand over validated strains to the fermentation team and support their scale-up.

Own the quality of everything that leaves the plant — from incoming raw material to batch release. Operations Guwahati Full-time

Customers dose our enzymes by activity, so the figure on the specification sheet has to be right every time. As QA / QC Chemist you run the quality laboratory: you test what comes in, what is in process and what goes out, and you build the documentation and systems that let a growing plant release product with confidence.

What you will do

  • Test raw materials, in-process samples and finished product — enzyme activity (cellulase, amylase, pectinase and others), protein, pH, density and microbial load.
  • Carry out viable-count and purity checks on microbial bioformulations.
  • Prepare certificates of analysis, and maintain product specifications, safety data sheets and batch-release records.
  • Run stability and shelf-life studies on liquid and solid formulations.
  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments, and qualify analytical methods.
  • Develop the quality system — SOPs, deviation and corrective-action records — and support regulatory compliance and customer audits, including FSSAI requirements for food-grade enzymes.

What you bring

  • A degree in chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, biotechnology or a related science.
  • Practical experience in an analytical or quality-control laboratory.
  • Good documentation practice and close attention to detail.
  • The confidence to hold a batch when the data says so.

Why build your
career here.

Laboratory and pilot plant · one site

From agar plate to fermenter

Our R&D laboratory and our pilot plant share one site at Guwahati. What is developed at the bench is run at pilot scale by people you work beside, so you see the consequences of your work quickly — and learn from them.

Biology that was found here

We work with indigenous fungal and bacterial strains isolated from the ecosystems of Northeast India — a characterised, catalogued and cryopreserved library that is the starting point for every enzyme blend and bioformulation we make.

Problems worth solving

Crop residue that would otherwise be burned becomes enzymes and second-generation ethanol; microbial formulations take the place of synthetic inputs in the field. The purpose of the work is visible in every batch.

A plant that is still being built

We are scaling from a 5 KL pilot line towards 50–100 KL commercial fermentation. The people who join now write the procedures, specify the equipment and shape how the company works as it grows.

How we hire.
